In detail
STEP 1
No matter how many laptops you wish to trade in, please complete the contact details on the online registration form and then submit. Please remember that the matrix outlining the value of your old laptops gives an indicative price only and the final value of your traded in laptops will be determined once they have assessed by Tier 1.

Laptops in poor condition or missing items such as power cables may affect your final valuation. If you are unsure of how to your machines will be graded, consult our Grading Policy here. You are then ready to tell us that you wish to proceed with the trade-in programme.

Once Tier 1 has received your details, you will receive an email acknowledging your registration and explaining the next steps in the process.

STEP 2
Are you trading in under 10 laptops? If not, proceed to step 3.

If yes, your registration page has space for you to briefly describe the make, model and specification of the laptops you wish to trade in. Once Tier 1 has received your details, they will email you to explain what happens next, give you some important information and ask for your permission to proceed.

STEP 3
Tier 1 will send you enough ready-labelled boxes and packaging to ensure the laptops reach them safely and quickly. This package will also include the necessary details of how to package your laptops, an inventory of the equipment you are sending, a Collection ID number and how to arrange collection and delivery.

We will also require you to confirm that you have read the terms and conditions of the offer, confirm that the equipment you are sending matches the inventory you have submitted and include a photocopy of the invoice for your newly-purchased Toshiba laptops.

Please ensure that the address and contact details you fill in before you submit your request to trade-in are accurate. A UPS courier will collect the packages at no expense to you. Companies wishing to insure their old laptops before they are sent do so at their own expense.

STEP 4
Laptops arriving at Tier 1 are logged and labelled, then booked into their Asset Management System to fast-track them through the process. Firstly, the condition of each laptop will be assessed in line with our Grading Policy, and those that pass will proceed to have all data erased using Blancco Data Erasure Technology.

Blancco’s advanced Data Erasure Technology ensures the secure removal of data from all types of hard drives enabling its clients to achieve compliancy with global security and privacy regulations. This solution not only conforms to the highest standards and regulations, but also exceeds legislative requirements; including INFOSEC 5 and US Department of Defence 5220.22-M. Detailed gapless audit reporting completely mitigates the exposure to legal liabilities or loss of corporate assets. For more information, please feel free to look at the Blancco website at www.blancco.com

STEP 5
Owners of failing laptops – ie those whose grading puts them in a state beyond economic repair – will be contacted by email to offer two possible choices. That is to either i) confirm that you give permission for the equipment to be disposed of by Tier 1 in an environmentally friendly manner as per WEEE directives with guaranteed data erasure; or ii) to request that you arrange collection of the equipment.

STEP 6
On rare occasions, laptops fail to pass the data wipe process. In these cases, you will be notified by email and offered two possible alternatives: i) to confirm that you give permission for the equipment to be disposed of by Tier 1 in an environmentally friendly manner as per WEEE directives with guaranteed data erasure; or ii) to request that you arrange collection of the equipment.

When your laptops have passed through the data wipe, customers will be contacted by email by Tier 1 with confirmation of the equipment’s final value together with a consignment test report. This valuation will form the purchase order value from which you will raise an invoice

STEP 7
Confirmation that you are happy to proceed with the buy-back needs to be emailed back to Tier 1 in addition to an invoice for the amount agreed in our valuation. If you are VAT registered, please send confirmation of your VAT Registration details. Please also remember to include your unique Collection ID reference number that you were given when your laptops were dispatched to Tier 1

STEP 8
Tier 1 will send you your cheque within 5 working days of receipt of invoice.
